Flash flood warning for Dickinson, Delta counties
MARQUETTE – Southern Dickinson County is under a flash flood warning until 3 p.m. today.
Law enforcement officials reported that heavy rainfall resulted in flooding of U.S. 2, County Road 607, and other roadways in and near Iron Mountain, and several vehicles were left stranded.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Marquette, the Iron Mountain area received over two inches of rain in one hour.
Meteorologists said that the heaviest rainfall has ended, but excessive runoff may cause flash flooding in Iron Mountain, Kingsford, Felch, Foster City, and Norway.
Southern Delta County is under a flash flood warning until 5:30 p.m.
Another round of strong to severe thunderstorms, with potential for damaging winds and large hail, may hit the western and central Upper Peninsula later today, according to the NWS.
