Iron County Fair Aug. 27-31
IRON RIVER – The 2014 Iron County Fair will bring fun and excitement for the whole family to the Iron County Fairgrounds in Iron River, from Wednesday, Aug. 27 until Sunday, Aug. 31.
Carnival specials begin at 1 p.m. each day.
The fair kicks off with Entry Day on Wednesday, Aug. 27, from noon to 7 p.m.
Thursday is Senior Day, which begins with a free lunch for seniors at Smokey’s and the bandstand, beginning at noon. Jim Clements will provide musical entertainment at the bandstand from noon to 3 p.m.
Horse fun events begin at 4 p.m. in the horse arena. The draft horse pull will take place 6 p.m. at the grandstand.
The Miss Iron County Fair Queen Contest begins at 4:30 p.m., and contest selection will be held at 7 p.m. Both events will take place in the rotunda.
Also in the rotunda on Thursday are the $75 Kids’ Coin Scramble at 6 p.m. and the Friend of the Fair Award at 7 p.m.
Miss Iron County Queen Contest selection will take place at 7 p.m.
Lovin’ Country will provide musical entertainment from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the bandstand.
Friday festivities begin with livestock judging at the rotunda, beginning at 9 a.m. 4-H market livestock judging will be held in the rotunda and begins at noon.
Old Friends will provide musical entertainment at the bandstand from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Marilyn Monsivias will play the bandstand from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Various bands will take part in the Interpose Production at the grandstand, beginning at 6 p.m.
4-H Open Class Exhibit judging at the barns, rotunda, and blue building will be held all day Thursday and Friday.
Saturday starts out with the 4-H Horse Show at 9 a.m in the horse arena.
Ventriloquist act Skip & Dave will perform at the rotunda at 10 a.m. The “Down on the Farm” presentation will follow at 11 a.m.
The Open Class Horse Show begins at noon in the horse arena.
The market livestock auction will be held in the rotunda, starting at 2 p.m.
Musical entertainment at the bandstand will be provided by Dan Germic from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Bill Haasey from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The Demolition Derby begins at 6 p.m. in the grandstand.
An arts and crafts sale will be held inside and outside of the rotunda all day on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Sunday kicks off with the Loggers and Farmers Breakfast in the bandstand at 7 a.m.
Rabbit showmanship will be held in the rotunda at 9 a.m.
The presentation of horse awards will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the bandstand and the rotunda.
A tractor pull with begin at 11 a.m. in the grandstand, followed by a tuck pull.
Horse and speed event will begin at noon.
Other grandstand events include the chicken and corn feed at 1 p.m. and the Iron County Fair Drawing at 3 p.m.
Ricky Yorkovich will provide musical entertainment from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Iron County Fair drawing will take place at 3 p.m.
Exhibits and livestock will be released at 5 p.m.
An antique farm equipment display will be open all day, Thursday through Sunday.
Admission prices for all special events are as follows: Demolition Derby, $7 for adults and $5 for children; the tractor pull and 4×4 truck pull is free; seasonal parking is $5 and walk-in admission is $1.
