Lucille A. Scott

KINGSFORD – Lucille A. Scott, 107, of Kingsford, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at Freeman Health and Rehabilitation Community in Kingsford.

Lucille was born on March 14, 1907 in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Adolph and Anna (Neurenhausen) Grimord. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1924.

Lucille married Joseph Scott on Feb. 9, 1934, at St. Mary and St. Joseph Church.

She worked for Michigan Bell Telephone for 20 years and has lived in Iron Mountain, Kingsford, Dearborn, Mich. and Venice, Fla. before returning to Kingsford in 1966.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph in 1967.

Lucille was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Church, Pine Grove Country Club, Dickinson County Memorial Hospital League and the Michigan Bell Telephone Pioneers.

She always enjoyed playing cards (especially bridge), reading, crossword puzzles and knitting. Lucille donated many of her knitted articles to the hospital gift shop. Since becoming a resident at Freeman’s in 2008, she has enjoyed their many activities including bingo.

Lucille is survived by 10 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Barbara Grimord of Deland, Fla.; three nieces, and four nephews. She is also survived by special friends, Margaret Donahue, Judy Johnson, and Joe and Sue Beasley.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lucille was preceded in death by three stepsons, Joseph, John and Donald Scott; a sister, Madeline Westby; and three brothers, Clarence, Edward and Leslie Grimord.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary and St. Joseph Church in Iron Mountain.

Funeral Services will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Fr. Daniel Zaloga will offer the Mass of Christian burial.

Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lucille’s memory to St. Mary and St. Joseph Church, Dickinson County Catholic Schools or the recreational department at Freeman Nursing and Rehabilitation Community.
