Must be a distinction
What is your definition of birth control? What do you think the group “Right to Life’s” stance is regarding birth control?
It might interest you to know that they have no position on true contraceptives, contraceptives which that prevent fertilization. The problem is that groups that are “pro-abortion” put true contraceptives, abortifacients and chemical and surgical abortion all under the same term. There must be a distinction between methods that prevent pregnancy and methods that destroy.
In June the Supreme Court ruled in a decision between Burwell and Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby is a family-owned business. A Health and Human Services mandate required that they provide “birth control” to their employees.
There were 20 methods listed. Of the 20, the owners rejected four methods because they believed it would end the life of an unborn child. The Supreme Court agreed and, in doing do, established protection for religious liberty against government overreach when it comes to closely held corporations and their employees.
Since the Supreme Court ruling, pro-abortionists have attacked the decision misrepresenting the facts of the issue and claiming it was another example of the “war on women.”
Online bloggers have even gone so far as to suggest that “every Hobby Lobby should be burned to the ground.”
A statement from Hillary Clinton is an example of politicians who don’t bother to find the facts but simply stand on a platform which approves abortion on demand as a woman’s right. “It is very troubling that a sales clerk at Hobby Lobby who needs contraception, which is pretty expensive, is not going to get that service through her employer’s health care plan because her employer doesn’t think she should be using contraception.”
There are already bills being put forth in Congress to oppose the Hobby Lobby decision.
Please be aware that there is a difference between a true contraceptive and an abortion – prevention versus destruction. Know that politicians and the media can make the issue conform to their agenda.
In a country that has proclaimed from the earliest beginnings that we Trust in God, it is very disturbing that there has become such a disrespect and lack of protection for the unborn. Please examine the facts on issues and support laws that protect religious liberty for companies and individuals. There are too many countries in the world that disregard these rights already.
I just read the diary of a young Jewish woman living in Paris in the 1940s.
Her observations could so easily be applied to our country’s policies on abortion on demand.
“What will never be erased from my mind is the awareness of how little a human life is worth, or of the evil that is in humanity, or of the enormous strength that evil can acquire once it has been awakened.” (pg. 250)
“How many souls of infinite worth, repositories of gifts others should have treated with humility and respect, have been similarly crushed and broken by brutality? Just as precious as a violin, full of dormant capacities to awake the deepest and purest emotions, may be broken by brutal sacrilege force. (pg. 253)
“Quick, let’s close our eyes. Let’s forget and ask: “Can you imagine that in some other place, evil men are allowed to slaughter some other multitude of innocent people in their millions, as has happened here to the Jews.” (insert “the unborn and realize that this is exactly what has been done since the Roe V. Wade decision.) (pg. 254) The Journal of Helene Berr.
