NIAGARA, Wis. – Marilyn R. Becker, 80, of Niagara, passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2014, at her home.
She was born on April 4, 1934, in Kunesh, Wis., the daughter of the late Rev. Peter and Sylvia (Vorphal) Buenting. Following her graduation from high school, Marilyn attended Wartburg College for two years. She has worked her entire life and has had several occupations including being a ticket agent for Northwest Airline in Chicago.
Marilyn married Eugene “Geno” Becker in Detroit on Jan. 30, 1987. The couple moved to Niagara in 1998. Eugene preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 2012.
Marilyn was a member of First Lutheran Church of Iron Mountain and was involved with the Stephen Ministries for many years.
She is survived by her son, Peter, of Wayne, Mich.; a sister, Doloris Ruechel of Niagara; a brother, Rev. Howard (Roberta) Buenting of Shawano, Wis.; sister-in-law, Patricia Buenting of Perrysville, Ohio; a godchild-niece, Kristie Eagles; and many other nephews and nieces whom she dearly loved.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church of Iron Mountain.
A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with a luncheon to follow. Rev. James Lindgren will officiate.
