Michigan officers shoot, kill man
ADRIAN (AP) – Michigan authorities say an officer who shot and killed a man in Lenawee County acted in self-defense.
Michigan State Police and county authorities said Wednesday that Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the home of a 54-year-old man suffering from an unspecified mental illness Tuesday in Fairfield Township near Adrian. They were attempting to enforce a court order for hospitalization.
Police say three deputies entered the man’s house and found him holding a shotgun.
They repeatedly told him to put down the weapon. Police say the deputies fired when the man pointed the shotgun at them.
