Gerald Wright

IRON MOUNTAIN – Gerald “Jerry” Wright, 85, of Iron Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, Wis.

Jerry was born July 24, 1929, in Iron Mountain, son of the late Harry and Annie (Prudhomme) Wright. He attended the Iron Mountain Schools and was a lifelong resident of the area. Jerry was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Beverly Bazilli on April 11, 1953, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain.

Jerry was employed by the state of Michigan Liquor Control Commission for more than 25 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50.

His passion was running beagles and he was a longtime member of the Beagle Club. Jerry was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and attended many games. He enjoyed bowling and participated in bowling league for many years. He also enjoyed golfing at Oak Crest and Bombers. Jerry loved to meet his buddies at B’s Caf before starting his day. He always had a joke and a smile to share with the waitresses. He was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather and loved attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Beverly; a son, Gerald (Kim) Wright of Norway; a daughter, Patti (Michael) Milinski of Kingsford; a sister, Patsy (John) Butler of Niagara; eight grandchildren, Angel (Ron) Johnston, Brandon (Roberta) Wright, Richard (Katie) Wright, Alex (Christina) Milinski, Brian, Mollie, Jeremy and Brett Milinski; six great-grandchildren, Danna, Isabel, Emma, Kylie, Isaiah and Mya; and several nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by nine sisters and seven brothers.

Visitation will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain.

A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Geri Hamlen will officiate.
