Fundraiser planned for Coriee Thomas

IRON MOUNTAIN – A fundraiser will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23, starting at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Iron Mountain. All funds raised will go to support Coriee Thomas and his family.

Coriee Wayne Thomas, the three-year-old son of Carmen and Jered Butterfield, suffered severe burns in a campfire accident while on a camping trip. Coriee was transported to Flint, where he spent six days receiving treatment in the intensive care burn unit.

After returning home with his mother, Coriee continues to receive ongoing treatment such as physical therapy appointments several times a week as well as doctor’s appointments twice a week. As a result of the numerous treatments and medical expenses, Coriee’s mother and step-father are facing a difficult financial struggle.

The fundraiser to support Coriee and his family will feature free food, a silent auction, the Iron Mountain Fire Department Fire Safety House, and a bouncy house donated by the New Hope Church. The organizers of the event are still seeking donations for the silent auction, and if you are interested in donating to this event, please contact John Koehler at 774-5731 or Kim Koehler at (906) 396-6573.

For those who wish to receive updates about Coriee’s condition, a Facebook page dedicated to Coriee was created. The page will be frequently checked for questions and concerns, and it can be used to directly contact Coriee’s mother to discuss donations or helping in any way. For more information, contact on Facebook.
