Two injured in M-95 crash

IRON MOUNTAIN – Two people were injured Thursday when a passenger car collided with a recreational vehicle (RV) motorhome on M-95 in Sagola Township.

The accident occurred at about 4:10 p.m. at the intersection of M-95 and M-69 West.

Troopers from the Iron Mountain post of the Michigan State Police said that 34-year-old Andrew Vogt of Mount Prospect, Ill. was attempting to exit from the BP gas station when his passenger car was struck by an RV motorhome, operated by 74-year-old Conrad Kontio of Champion, that was traveling south on M-95.

Vogt and a passenger, 33-year-old Maylene Vogt, were transported to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Troopers said that a two-year-old child in the Vogt vehicle was not injured, due to being properly restrained in a child car seat.

Vogt was cited for failure to yield to oncoming traffic, said troopers. Seat belts were used by all parties involved, and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, they added.

Assisting at the scene were STAR Ambulance, Beacon Ambulance, and the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department.
