Dickinson County high schools to kick off practice sessions next week

FELCH – North Dickinson County School football practice will begin Monday, Aug. 11.

Equipment will be issued on the first day at 3 p.m., followed by practice at 5 p.m.

In other practice openers, volleyball is set for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13; junior high girls basketball, 3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25.

A physical must be on file in the office before athletes can practice. The $40 participation fee must be paid prior to the first game.

Knights – Norway High School varsity and junior varsity football practice will start Monday, Aug. 11, at 8 a.m.

The Knights will also practice Monday evening at 6.

Athletes must have a physical on file to participate.

Flivvers – Kingsford High School football practice starts Monday.

Varsity, junior varsity and freshmen football players should report to the Flivver Field fieldhouse at 9 a.m.

Other initial practice dates follow (Athletes must have a physical on file in the principal’s office in order to participate in sports):

Girls Tennis – 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, tennis courts.

Cross Country – 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, high school.

Boys Soccer – 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, Woodland.

Volleyball – 4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, varsity; 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, junior varsity and freshmen.

Cheerleading – 10:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, high school.

Mountaineers – Iron Mountain High School fall athletics will begin the week of Aug. 11.

Participants must have a complete physical on file in order to practice. The first day of practice for each sport will be as follows:

FOOTBALL (jayvee, varsity) – Mountaineer Stadium, Monday, Aug. 11 by 8:15 a.m.

VOLLEYBALL (jayvee, varsity) – Mountaineer Gymnasium, Wednesday, Aug. 13, by 9 a.m.

BOYS SOCCER (varsity, grades 9-12) – St. Mary’s soccer complex, Wednesday, Aug. 13, by 8:30 a.m.

GIRLS TENNIS (varsity, grades 9-12) – Amos Marston Eastside Courts, Wednesday, Aug. 13, by 9:30 a.m.

CROSS COUNTRY (co-op with Kingsford) – Kingsford High School, 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13.

GIRLS JUNIOR HIGH BASKETBALL (grades 7-8) – Date and time to be announced.
