NORWAY – Bernice G. Skowronek, 90, of Norway, passed away Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born in Elyria, Ohio on June 29, 1924, the daughter of the late Melvin and Margaret (Sullivan) Leamon.
Bernice married Leo L. Skowronek on Nov. 30, 1946, in Alpena, Mich.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church Church in Norway and the Norvulet Post 4581, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Bernice loved her dogs Max and Missey and her cat Tinker, she enjoyed riding in the country, and feeding the birds at her house.
Bernice is survived by her husband of 67 years, Leo; sons Ronald Skowronek of Quinnesec, Leo Skowronek Jr. of Norway, James (Julie) Skowronek of Niagara, Wis. and John (Roxanne) Skowronek of McMinnville, Ore.; daughter Jacqueline Johnson of Unionville, Mo.; grandchildren Jim, Jamie, Jerry Lee, Susan, Nicole, Sarah and Melissa; great-grandchildren Kylle, Rhylle and Levi; brother James Leamon of California; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother Melvin Leamon and sister Margaret Leamon.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 7, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, at 1 p.m. at Ortman Funeral Home with Fr. Raymond Valerio officiating.
Interment will follow at the at Quinnesec Cemetery.
