HOMESTEAD, Wis. – Dennis H. Saunders, 74, of Homestead passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014, while doing what he loved most, riding his bright blue trike motorcycle on a beautiful sunny day.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Dennis worked a variety of jobs during his lifetime; but the job he enjoyed the most was for the Amoco Corporation at the Amoco Building in Chicago.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen; one son, Harry Saunders of Troy, Mont.; five grandchildren, Chad, Wade, Dustin, Tara Rose and Jade; their mother, Karen and three great-grandchildren.
In August 2013, Dennis traveled west to spend time with his son and family. He traveled the entire distance to and from Montana on his beloved motorcycle. It was a dream he was able to fulfill and he treasured the time spent with his family there.
Dennis is also survived by a stepson, Ric Stream; two step-grandchildren, Richard and Melinda Johnson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathy and Joe Pluff and his little dog Buddy.
The family would like to thank those who came upon his accident and reported it, the Florence County Sheriff’s Department and Rescue Squad for all that they did.
Dennis will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Jacobs Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Fr. Matt Settle will officiate.
Burial will be in the Aurora-Homestead Cemetery in Aurora, Wis. Dennis will be escorted to his final resting place by the Patriot Riders.
Immediately following graveside services a luncheon will be held at the C&R in Aurora.
