VA to participate in Veteran Expo

IRON MOUNTAIN The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center will be participating in the upcoming Veteran Expo Aug. 8-9, 2014, in the Superior Dome in Marquette. The two-day event is sponsored by the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, and is a “one-stop” shop for Michigan Veterans offering jobs, education, health care, benefits and more.

The Iron Mountain-based medical center will have staff on hand from the following programs to provide information and answer any questions: Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF), women Veterans health, Vocational Rehabilitation, MyHealtheVet online tools, peer support, Healthcare for Homeless Veterans, and human resources.

Staff from the Escanaba-based Vet Center will also be present with their Mobile Vet Center vehicle. The primary mission of the Vet Center is to help combat Veterans and Veterans who have experienced military sexual trauma readjust to civilian life by offering individual, family and group counseling.
