Aurora man arrested after domestic incident

FLORENCE, Wis. – A 29-year-old Aurora, Wis. man was arrested Friday following a domestic disturbance and police chase incident, Florence County Sheriff Jeff Rickaby said today.

Officers from the Florence County and Dickinson County sheriff’s departments and Kingsford Public Safety responded to a report of a suicidal subject in possession of a loaded handgun, Rickaby said.

According to Rickaby, the man was intoxicated and involved in a physical altercation with his girlfriend and a second young woman.

The man fled the scene when he found out police had been called, and was later stopped at the intersection of County Highway N and Elm Street in Aurora and taken down by gunpoint.

A loaded 9-mm pistol was found in the console of the man’s truck, Rickaby said.

He was arrested for endangering safety by intoxicated use of a firearm, operating while intoxicated, and domestic violence battery.

The suspect was housed in the Florence County Jail. His name has not been released.
