DCD takes orders for fall tree sale

KINGSFORD – The Dickinson Conservation District is now accepting orders for their 2015 Fall Tree Sale.

The tree sale will feature a selection of conifer seedling plugs. Fall is an ideal time to plant seedlings because they have a greater chance of surviving due to more even moisture availability and a decreased risk of transplant shock.

“Fall is also a great time to replace any seedlings that didn’t survive from a spring planting. The Conservation District is holding their Fall Tree Sale earlier this year than in the past to allow more time for seedlings to establish roots. This is to give the seedlings a better chance of surviving another harsh winter,” a spokesperson said.

Orders are due Sept. 3, with pickup will be September 12-20, during business hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by appointment.

Order forms are available at or at the USDA Service Center at 102 N. Hooper St. in Kingsford. Orders can be placed by mail, phone, email, or in person.
