Veterans Motorcycle Club makes donation

IRON MOUNTAIN – The riders for the Veterans Motorcycle Club recently held their Veterans Tribute Ride to raise funds to support programs for veterans.

One of the programs they donated to is Bags for Vets. The bags are given to veterans when they are admitted to the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center for in-patient care.

The bags are made from patriotic patterned fabric with a drawstring and are made by people within the community who want to do something to show support for veterans.

With the help of this donation, the bags will be filled with personal hygiene items for male and female veterans.

On Make a Difference Day, they will be assembled and delivered to the VA Medical Center as part of the UPCAP Office of Community Corrections’ ongoing Make a Difference Day programs, a spokesperson said.

Anyone interested in making bags or a donation to the Bags for Vets, contact Denise Formolo, Community Corrections coordinator for UPCAP Services Inc. at 774-9920.

Donations can also be sent to UPCAP Services, Office of Community Corrections, 800 Crystal Lake Blvd., Suite 105, Iron Mountain, Mich. 49801.
