KINGSFORD -Katherine “Katie” Uren, 28, of Kingsford, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at her home.
She was born June 11, 1986, in Newport News, Va., the daughter of Bryan Carter and Pamela Smith. Katie graduated from Kingsford High School in 2005, and then attended Lake Superior State University where she earned a degree in nursing. She has been employed at the V.A. Hospital in Iron Mountain as a nurse since 2007.
Katie married Josh Uren on Jan. 8, 2011, in Kingsford. She enjoyed crafts, making jewelry, gardening, her dogs and being involved in the local Relay for Life event.
Katie is survived by her husband, Josh; her father, Bryan Carter; her mother, Pamela (Phil) Stegall; three sisters, Sarah (Dominik) Walter, Angelica (Jeremiah) Hillegas and Brittany (Chris) Bennett; her mother-in-law, Roberta Uren; paternal grandparents, Wayne and Marlene Carter; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Jerry Uren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 1, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home in Iron Mountain.
Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Deacon Mike LeBeau will officiate. Burial will be in the Quinnesec Cemetery.
