Florence Fair deadlines listed

FLORENCE, Wis. – It’s almost August, and that means that it is almost time for the 2014 Florence County Fair. This year the fair will be held Aug. 22-24.

While the fair itself is still a few weeks away, there are some important deadlines that happen prior to the fair, a spokesperson said.

The first deadline is Aug. 1. This date is when the coloring contest entries are due. The picture can be printed from the fair’s website (www.florencecountyfair.com) and can be mailed to the Florence County Fair; P.O. Box 704; Florence, WI 54121.

Aug. 1 is also the last day to purchase discounted fair parking passes. A parking pass is required and is good for the entire weekend. Parking passes are $7 at the fair, but can be purchased ahead of time through the mail by sending a check and a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Florence County Fair; P.O. Box 704; Florence, WI 54121.

The second deadline is Aug. 8. This is the early registration deadline for those entering exhibits in the fair. Any Florence County resident may enter exhibits (photos, paintings, vegetables grown in their garden, flowers, woodworking projects, etc.).

All of the items that can be entered may be found in the Florence County Fair Book and online at www.florencecountyfair.com. If you register early to bring exhibits, there is no cost to you. Exhibit items may be registered up until Aug. 20 there is a late registration fee after Aug. 8 of $5 per exhibitor.

Aug. 8 is also the early registration deadline for the Got Beer! Fun Run/Walk. Entry forms postmarked by this date will receive a parking pass for Saturday at the fair. The early registration price is $15. Entries will be accepted on site on race day as well. Race day registration is $20.

Aug. 20 is the deadline for all exhibits to be registered and brought to the fair between 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Special contests such as the Blue Ribbon Apple Pie, Rainbow Loom, Duct Tape, Recycling Art, and Milk Jug/Carton Decorating Contest may be brought to the fair park on Aug. 20 between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. or Aug. 21 between 8 a.m. and noon,
