Michael Chapman

NIAGARA, Wis. – Michael R. Chapman, 80, of Niagara, passed away surrounded by family Thursday, July 24, 2014, in Twin Lakes, Wis., at the home of his daughter.

He was born on Feb. 16, 1934, in Niagara, the son of the late Harry and Elizabeth (LaRoche) Chapman.

Michael was raised on the farm in Niagara, moved to the Chicago-land area, and later settled back in Niagara.

He was married to Elizabeth Gussert from 1952 to 1978 and together they had six children. He worked with his brothers as a carpenter, a trade he passed along to his sons. After returning to Niagara he was employed at GAF. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and took great pride in his garden.

Michael is survived by children, Linda (Chas Hackney) Chapman of Wauwatosa, Wis., Harry (Maria) Chapman of Twin Lakes, Michael Chapman Jr. of Genoa City, Wis., Barbara Chapman of Twin Lakes, Tony (Lynne) Chapman of Eau Claire, Wis., and Lola Chapman of Waterford, Wis.; sibling, Eugene Chapman of Niagara; grandchildren, Donica Lintner, Aaron Antonissen, Kirsten Antonissen, Heather Tierney, Neal Chapman, Richard Chapman, Raymond Chapman, Elena McFadden, Eva Lofton, Christopher Chapman, Gina Chamness, and Pamela Mazzone; great-grandchildren, Michael Antonissen, Nathan Lintner, Lilly Antonissen, Chase Antonissen, Aiden Chapman, Annabelle Chapman, Elizabeth Goodman, Cordell Goodman, Owen Chapman, Alexandria Chamness, Keagan Chamness and Dorian Chamness. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by siblings, Leona (Chapman) Van Ginkel, Lawrence Chapman, Robert Chapman, Sidney Chapman, Hazel (Chapman) Jacobson, Thressa (Chapman) Cretton, David “Buck” Chapman, Fred Chapman and longtime companion Lorraine Curran.

Burial services will be held on today at 1:30 p.m. at Hillcrest, Chapman Family Cemetery in Niagara.
