CRYSTAL FALLS – Chester J. Sartori, 92, of Crystal Falls, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility in Crystal Falls.
He was born July 20, 1922, in Crystal Falls, son of the late Joseph and Clara (Lovera) Sartori.
Chester grew up in Crystal Falls and graduated from Crystal Falls High School, class of 1942.
He served in the U.S. Army – Air Force during World War II as a bomber mechanic at several army-air force bases and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Chester took over his father’s gas station in June of 1946, which he worked at until he was 90 years of age.
He joined the Crystal Falls Fire Department in 1948, and retired in 1999, after 50 years of service.
Chester was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Chester is survived by his loving wife, Taimi (Peltola) Sartori; two sons, Charles Sartori of Crystal Falls and James (Laura) Sartori of Crystal Falls; one sister, Perina Sartori of Crystal Falls; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Sasha) Sartori, Charly Sartori, Tahoney (Tim) Anderson and Ashley (Keith) Metz; three great-grandsons; one niece, Liz Williams and one nephew, David Williams.
In addition to his parents, Chester was preceded in death by, one brother, Gene Sartori and one sister, Delores Williams.
Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 1, 2014, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Jacobs-Plowe Funeral Home in Crystal Falls.
The Iron Range Firefighters Association will have a Pass and Review at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
A celebration of life service will be offered Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Fr. Jeffrey Kurtz will officiate.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Crystal Falls.
