Bergonzi String Quartet to perform at library

IRON MOUNTAIN – The Dickinson County Library has several activities on their upcoming agenda. Schedule for July 28 through Aug. 9 is as follows:

Monday, July 28

ABC Science: E is for Explosion, 10 a.m. at the Dickinson County Library. Learn the ABCs of science at the Dickinson County Library and Norway Library in July. Each session will focus on a different theme that will teach kids the various principles of science with stories, science demonstrations, activities, and crafts. This program is open to children under age six and is sponsored by Drs. Michael and Maria Occhietti and family.

Tuesday, July 29

Mythbusters Unlocked, 11 a.m. at the Dickinson County Library and 3 p.m. at the Norway Library. As an unofficial Mythbuster, teens will attempt to confirm or bust some of the Mythbusters most entertaining and legendary myths. From exploding eyeballs to exploding stomachs, no myth is left unturned. Things might get messy for this program, so make sure to wear knock-around clothes. This program is for grades 5 and up and registration is required. This program is sponsored by the Hon. Thomas and Tami Slagle, Barbie Jo, and Mary.

Wednesday, July 30

Bergonzi String Quartet, 1 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library. The talented world-renowed Bergonzi String Quartet will present Peter and the Wolf for families of all ages. The ensemble gives kids exposure to classical music and stringed instruments. Refreshments will follow the concert. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Dickinson County Library.

Thursday, July 31

Aromatherapy 101, 6 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library. Led by Kate Taylor, Aromatherapy 101 will teach you more about this alternative medicine that utilizes essential oils to alter a person’s mind, mood, cognitive function, or health. This program is perfect for those looking to explore new methods for calm.

Monday, Aug. 4

Tuesday Tucks Me In, 10:30 a.m. at the Dickinson County Library. Former U.S. Army Captain and New York Times bestselling author Luis Carlos Montalvn and his best friend and service dog Tuesday offer a very special and inspirational story of how Tuesday saved his life. His books will be available for signing and purchase. This program is perfect for all ages and is sponsored by Edwards Automotive, David and Elsa Brule, and the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Kiwanis Club.

Tuesday, Aug. 5

Until Tuesday, 2 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library. Former U.S. Army Captain and New York Times bestselling author Luis Carlos Montalvn of Until Tuesday will speak about his personal experiences as a veteran and how his best friend and service dog Tuesday helps him in his daily life. This program will cover the experiences of war and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the return to civilian life as experienced by Captain Montalvn. Veterans are especially encouraged to attend this amazing program. His books will be available for signing and purchase. This program is sponsored by Edwards Automotive, David and Elsa Brule, and the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Kiwanis Club.

Wednesday, Aug. 6

End of Summer Reading Party, 2 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library. Kids and teens will celebrate the end of Summer Reading with a final bash at the library. They will receive awards and prizes for their Summer Reading efforts and finish the day off with treats, games and activities. This program is perfect for all ages and is sponsored by the Hon. Thomas and Tami Slagle, Barbie Jo and Mary, and the Vulcan-Norway-Loretto Lions Club.

This program is designed to introduce infants to the world of stories. Through sensory exploration and exposure to songs, tickles, puppets and many other enriching circle time activities, your child will be involved in an environment that encourages fun, laughter, and giggles. This program is open to all babies ages birth to 24 months and does not require registration. Call 774-1218 with any questions.

Saturday, Aug. 9

Teen Party, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Dickinson County Library. Teens will enjoy a movie, pizza, and finish the day off with games and more at the library. This program is by invitation only- teens must have completed Summer Reading and logged their minutes. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Dickinson County Library.
