Ontonagon teen faces sex charges

IRON MOUNTAIN – An Ontonagon teen has entered not guilty pleas in Dickinson County Circuit Court to criminal sexual conduct charges alleging that he had sexual contact with a boy under the age of 13.

Andrew James Jenkins, 17, faces four felony counts of criminal sexual conduct-first degree. If convicted, he could spend up to life in prison.

A pre-trial in the matter is scheduled for Aug. 18.

The charges against Jenkins stem from alleged incidents that occurred in Breitung Township in July 2011.

According to the criminal complaint in the case, Jenkins came to the area for a few weeks to stay with relatives. During the visit, he allegedly forced a younger male relative to engage in multiple acts of sexual contact, the complaint stated.
