POWERS – Therese C. Thoune, 86, of Powers, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at OSF St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba.
The former Therese Kline was born on July 6, 1928, in Hinsdale, Ill. to the late Lamiel and Martha (Weber) Kline. On July 7, 1949, Therese married Glen Thoune in Menominee. Glen preceded her in death on July 7, 1996.
Therese was an avid homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed singing, gardening, cooking, sewing, knitting and flower gardening. Family dinners at her home are something she cherished. Therese loved the beauty of nature and bird watching and was also known as the family historian. On her knees in her garden is where Therese felt closest to God.
Therese was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church where she sang in the church and funeral choir and was a member of St. Anne’s Society.
Therese was blessed with and survived by her children, Robert Welsh of Boise, Idaho, Charles (Carolyn) of Gladstone, MI, Gary (Elizabeth) of Crivitz, Wis., Richard (Sharon) of Jackson, Mich., Monica (Steve) Petros of Powers, Michael (MeeSu) of Appleton, Wis., Paul of Ravenna, Mch., Sara Thoune of Vulcan, and Jennifer Thoune of Mundelein, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marion, Rita, Joan, Bernadette and Geralyn.
Therese was preceded in death by her grandson, Wesley; sister, Celeste; and brother, Claudus.
Visitation will be held at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Spalding on Wednesday July 23, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Central time.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Father Michael Vichich officiating on Thursday July 24, at 10 a.m. the church.
Burial will be in Meyer Township Cemetery.
The Anderson Diehm Funeral Home of Stephenson is assisting the family with arrangements.
