Man hurt in dog attack

NORWAY – A man was transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in a dog attack Friday in Norway.

The incident occurred at about 11 a.m. near the intersection of Section Street and Fourth Avenue.

Norway Police Chief James Shafer said that a 36-year-old Norway man was walking on the sidewalk with three pit bulls on leashes when a fourth, untethered pit bull emerged from a nearby yard and attacked his dogs.

While the man was attempting to separate the dogs, he was bit and scratched on his arms, hands, and face, said Shafer.

The man was transported by North Alert Ambulance to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Shafer added that the owner of the fourth pit bull was cited for having an untethered dog.
