Registrations due for hunter education course in Florence

FLORENCE, Wis. – A Wisconsin hunter education course will be offered beginning Monday, July 28, at the Keyes Peak Ski Lodge.

Persons born on or after Jan. 1, 1973, must have a hunter education certificate to purchase any type of Wisconsin hunting or bow license.

Classes will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each Monday and Wednesday. There will be six classes and a field day.

Taught by Wisconsin certified instructors, class size is limited to 30 students who must be at least 10 years of age within six months of course completion.

On Monday, July 21, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., students with their parents must come to the ski lodge to pick up books, sign papers and pay a $10 fee for the class.

Persons successfully completing the course will receive a distinctive embroidered emblem and a hunter safety certificate. This is a lifetime certificate, which is also required by many other states.

The Keyes Peak lodge is located on Highway 101 three miles south of Florence.
