Drug store robbery probe continues

ESCANABA – Escanaba Public Safety Department officers were reminding the public today a $10,000 cash reward is available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of an armed suspect who robbed a downtown Escanaba drug store July 9.

At 12:09 p.m. that day, police were called to Peoples Drug Store, located at 1208 Ludington St., on a report of an armed robbery. The man allegedly threatened employees with a gun in an effort to get drugs.

Police surrounded the building as employees left the building. The robber left the store undetected. No injuries were reported.

Police said the investigation into the incident has continued, so far with no breakthroughs.

“We’re kind of beating down leads,” Capt. Jamie Segorski said today.

Police had been looking for a vehicle seen in the area around the time of the incident.

Segorski said that vehicle has been found, the owner interviewed and police have now cleared that vehicle from any involvement in the incident.
