IM native celebrates 60 years as an Adrian Dominican Sister

Adrian, Mich. Sister Therese (Therese Marcel) Reynolds, OP, a native of Iron Mountain, is celebrating 60 years as an Adrian Dominican Sister this year.

She attended St. Mary and St. Joseph Parish. A 1953 graduate of Iron Mountain High School, she entered the Adrian Dominican Congregation on June 27, 1954. She professed her first vows on Dec. 31, 1955, and her final (perpetual) vows on Dec. 31, 1960.

Sister Therese earned a bachelor’s degree in music from Siena Heights College (now University), Adrian, in 1964 and a master’s degree in music from Michigan State University in 1974.

Sister Therese began her ministerial years as a teacher, but spent the past 34 years as a parish musician and liturgist. She served as music minister from 1978 to 1984 at her home parish, St. Mary and St. Joseph in Iron Mountain, and from 1984 to 2002 as coordinator of liturgy and music at All Saints Parish in Gladstone. Since 2003, she has been the music minister of St. Margaret Mary Parish in Neenah, Wisconsin.

“I have enjoyed and loved being involved in church music, and it has been very life-giving and a blessing,” she said.
