KINGSFORD – It’s picnic time. So it was for the Golden K as they gathered at Cowboy Lake pavilion on July 7.

Bob Rigoni did a great job as picnic chairman. He even brought the sunshine, but the wind almost blew us away.

July chairperson Mary Jane Nelson offered the prayer and Thought for the Day.

It was a fun “sing a long” with Kay Williamson bringing an old rustic keyboard back to life. Margaret Trudell directed as our singing voices flew towards the lake. Don Williamson held onto the pages so his wife could keep playing.

Chairperson Mary Jane, called for the singing of “Auld Lange Syne,” the traditional GK remembrance of a departed member.

GK members remembered their brother, Jack Wahlstrom, who entered eternal life after 91 years. Many of his later years were as a faithful Golden K volunteer and community leader.

A brief business meeting was held.

Harlan Walters reminded Golden Krs of the GK Peanut Fund-raiser on Aug. 28 and Aug. 29 and the need for volunteer team captains.

The Golden Throats will be singing for the Northwood’s Garden Club Strawberry Social at the Gazebo on Woodward Ave and Balsam Street, on Sunday, July 13 at 1 p.m.

Be sure to bring your own lawn chair and wear white tops and black pants.

Golden Throats were reminded of singing on Wednesday, July 16 at the Freeman’s Nursing home picnic that starts at noon.

Along with singing, a few jokes were told and several good thoughts were given by Bob Rigoni.

Everyone did a lot of chatting and enjoyed the picnic lunch provided by Zollner Catering.

On Monday, July 14, the GK program chairman will be Al Calcari. The program will be about Gliders presented by Guy Forstrom.

New members and visitors are always welcome at Golden K. They meet every Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church Hall on Hamilton Ave. in Kingsford.
