KINGSFORD – Susan Christine Dawe, 58, of Kingsford, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2014, at her home, following a courageous 20 year battle with cancer.
She was born on Aug. 3, 1955, in Iron Mountain, the daughter of the late Charles and Joyce (Israelson) Dawe.
Sue was a lifelong resident of the area. She graduated from Iron Mountain High School in 1974, where she participated in the Majorettes. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Sue worked for many years at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital. After retiring, she enjoyed sewing. She was a great seamstress making blankets, dresses, Halloween costumes, and gifts for many. Sue could sew anything and did sewing for area businesses.
She was an avid skier and spent years on the Ski Patrol. She was on a bowling league and was a longtime member of a pool league.
Sue is survived by her significant other of many years, Ken Dawson; her beloved granddaughter, Katelyn “Button;” Ken’s children, Nicky (Zac Krull) Baker and Jed (Becky) Dawson; Ken’s grandchildren Chase, Sylvia, Charlotte, and Aiden; and her good friend James “Cookie” Krokstrom. Sue also leaves so many friends with which she has made many memories.
She was preceded in death by her special friend Deb Krokstrom.
There will be a celebration of Sue’s life on Saturday, July 26, from 3 p.m. to 6 at the Woodward Bar in Kingsford.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
