Cecelia LaChapell

ARMSTRONG CREEK, Wis. – Cecelia Marie LaChapell passed away peacefully on Friday, July 4, 2014, at Woodlands Nursing Home of Gillett, Wis.

She was born in Armstrong Creek on Aug. 5, 1925, the daughter of Leo and Adeline (Gudowicz) Pizinski.

Cecelia attended grade school in Armstrong Creek and later graduated from Goodman High School. On May 12, 1944, she married her high school sweetheart, Jerome LaChapell, and moved to Wayne, Mich. to start her working career at Bendix Aviation. In 1946, Cecelia and Jerome moved back to Armstrong Creek and took over the operation of the Pizinski Family Farm.

In 1971, Cecelia started working for CESA 8 in the Goodman-Armstrong Creek School District as a teacher’s aide. She later moved into the special education department, a position she held until her retirement in 1996 after 25 years. In between her full time job, she was a cook at the Stoney Ridge Restaurant in Goodman, Wis.

She loved baking and preparing meals, but most of all she loved being with her family. If she could have had one final wish, it would have been to live with her whole family in one big house. Cecelia had very strong faith and was a lifetime member of the St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Armstrong Creek.

She is survived by her children, Bill (Ann) of Oconto Falls, Wis., Marie (Joe) of Alpha, N.J., Linda (firend, Richard) of Goodman and Jim (Carla) of Goodman. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Joyce (Ken) of Niagara and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Cecelia was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Adeline; husband of 69 years, Jerome; daughter, Carnell; sister, Alicia; and brother, Vincent.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 12, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church in Armstrong Creek.
