Triathlon draws 160 participants

IRON MOUNTAIN – Jim Pineau and Glenda Sundberg prevailed in the toughest challenges at the 2014 U.P. Northwoods Triathlon at Lake Antoine.

Pineau led the men in the Olympic event with a time of 2:23:24; Sundberg took the women’s in 2:39:36.

Weather threatened the triathlon early but that didn’t stop the 160 participants that came out to test their endurance.

“I was a little worried about the weather, but it turned out to be a beautiful and amazing day”, said race director Karen Pollock. “We also had a wonderful turnout for the youth triathlon with 33 kids signed up. We pushed times back a bit so people in other events could watch their kids.

Pollock and the YMCA expressed appreciation to sponsors and participants for “making this a success.”
