4-H Summer Camp registration accepted

CHANNING – U.P. 4-H Summer Camp will take place July 7 to July 25 at Camp Molinare in Channing.

The camp is open to all youth ages five to 14 across the U.P.

Two Cloverbud sessions for ages 5-8 take place first on July 7-9 and July 9-11.

The second session is for ages 9-14 during the week of July 14-18.

The final session is July 21-25 for ages 9-14.

A shooting sports program will occupy the camp July 11-13 and is open for interested youth ages 10-18.

Some accommodations can be made for youth whose age might not fit a particular session. You do not need to be a 4-H member to attend these camps.

Camp Molinare is located on Sawyer Lake in northern Dickinson County. The camp rests on a forested hill overlooking the lake The camp is complete with dining hall, kitchen, boy’s and girl’s dorms, bathrooms, first aid building, campfire area and recreation field.

The U.P. 4-H camp program includes a variety of activities including canoeing, fishing, recreation games, arts and crafts, campfires, swimming, drama skits and much more.

Exploring the outdoor world is a major part of the camp experience with an emphasis on respect and care for our world and each other. This year the U.P. 4-H summer camp program is welcoming youth from the entire Upper Peninsula for greater diversity and opportunities.

All camp activities are well supervised and directed by qualified staff. The staff includes a director, certified nurse, adult counselors and certified waterfront personnel. Safety and a healthy learning environment are two main focus areas of the camp program.

Cost for each Cloverbud and shooting sports sessions is $100. The other sessions are priced at $150. There is a $20 late fee for registrations after June 30.

The camp fee includes program, meals, lodging, T-shirt, arts and crafts and all the fun you can absorb.
