Little League: Champion tourneys starting this week

IRON MOUNTAIN – Classic Auto held off Iron Mountain FNB 15-13 in junior/senior softball action. Amber Henderson fanned three in collecting the victory from the circle.

Tori DalSanto punched three singles. Katie Cudnohufsky, Gabby Nordstrom and Hailey Johnson smashed two hits each. Kaitlyn Henderson, Amber Henderson both hit doubles. Brianna Robinson bashed a triple, and Sierra Dober cranked a single to secure the victory.

… In another junior/senior game, Paige Burke, Olivia Lorenzoni, and Jordyn Kriegl each drew walks in the bottom of the sixth inning allowing Reagan Pratt to score as Kingsford Merchants beat Antonio’s Pizza 6-5. Molly Wahoviak got the win striking out seven and walking four. Burke’s two singles and two RBIs led Merchants in hitting. Kriegl tripled and Pratt singled as well. Jen Losniecki had one RBI and Sam Cross had two RBIs.

… Area Little League end of season tournaments begin this week. Action begins Monday evening in the 9-10 year old tournament of champions. Games take place at Quinnesec beginning at 4:30 p.m. Minor League softball and baseball get underway Tuesday at Norway’s Marion Park. The Bill Dixon Tournament of the Champions for Little League Major baseball starts Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Larry Barkle Eastside Field in Iron Mountain.
