Foreign policy gone astray
Heroin has made a comeback, oddly enough that has happened since we have been in Afghanistan. Why?
Is our law enforcement that ineffective? Are our legislators paying more attention to reelections, pay raises and lobbyists? Is there no enforceable plan to stop the terrible destruction caused by the use of this drug?
Where is the “War on Drugs?” Do more “people of power” need to lose loved ones to this?
Where does heroin come from? How is it that the media never tells us that 90 percent or more of the heroin found on our streets and in the arms of our dead young people comes from Afghanistan.
The very place where our soldiers are dying to keep Afghanis free. No wonder the tribal leaders of Afghanistan want us to stay there and die there while they continue to profit from the “export” of this deadly drug.
To believe the federal government doesn’t know about heroin coming from Afghanistan is ludicrous.
They’ve had boots on the ground and eyes in the sky for over ten years. This tells me that the American people – soldiers and civilians – are collateral damage, again, to a foreign policy gone astray.
Here are six conundrums of socialism in the United States.
1. America is capitalist and greedy, yet half of the population is subsidized.
2. Half of the population is subsidized, yet they think they are victims.
3. They think they are victims, yet their representatives run the government.
4. Their representatives run the government, yet the poor keep getting poorer.
5. The poor keep getting poorer, yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.
6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about, yet they want America to be more like those other countries.
Think about it. And that, my friends, pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st Century.
Makes you wonder who is doing the math.
These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of current government and cultural environment:
1. We are advised to not judge all Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge all gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.
2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? The first group “worked for” their money, but the second didn’t.
3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before World War II, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to illegal aliens.
Why are the Republicans so eager to go to war? As in most political situations, follow the moola trail. Who benefits from war? The manufacturers of war machines and equipment, of course, and they make a lot of money. War is a lucrative business. And who pays for it? Taxpayers, of course.
The Republicans constantly accuse President Obama of being a big spender. Their stance seems to be: “We won’t give you any money for programs which benefit the American people, but don’t you dare cut our war profits.”
just sit back
There are a lot of people wanting us to go back into Iraq yet a third time. “We need to take control or the price of oil and gasoline will go up.”
So I’m thinking that after spending trillions of dollars on war why don’t we spend that money on solar power and battery technology instead?
Why don’t we use that money to invent a battery that can go 1,000 miles on a charge instead of just 250 miles. If we did that we could even power our car with coal and be cleaner than gasoline.
But the best part about solar is that we don’t have to go to war in the middle east and give all that money to Muslims. We could just sit back and watch them kill each other like we do in Syria. Solar not only is cleaner, but it reduces war and terrorism.
does not end
Iraq, now we know where hell is. Hell is supposed to be a place of torment reserved for some people after death. Unfortunately, too many have ended up there before they died. Is there no end to the turmoil in Iraq and Afghanistan? We will never see peace and quiet in either of these two countries. Hell never ends.
The religious factions of these countries hate each other. They want to kill each other. These factions are crazy. America is killing itself and our troops trying to fix crazy religious people. The only thing worse than a crazy person is a religious crazy person because they invoke the name of God or Allah or somebody during every crucifixion or beheading they perform. As they torture, murder and rape they move on in the name of their religion.
Some Americans thought we were finished in Iraq.
When it comes to Iraq or the Middle East there is never a period but always a comma. Craziness does not end but only grows.
The only way to have some civility in Iraq or Afghanistan is to station 30,000 soldiers in five or six bases throughout each country. We can be assured if we do there will never be a time that our soldiers will not be in danger of ambush, bombs or the native soldiers turning on us as has happened numerous times. I think this is a bad idea.
Hell is a hot place and we will never extinguish the fire.
As a Vietnam Era Navy veteran, and having close relatives who served in every war from the Civil War to the Gulf War, I am disappointed with President Obama’s dithering foreign policy.
President Obama’s complete withdrawal from Iraq has allowed the Sunni/al Qaida terrorists to make a huge comeback in Iraq, and threaten peace in the Middle East. It could ultimately set the stage for the establishment of bases to promote attacks throughout the world, including the United States.
Is Afghanistan next?
Obama’s inattention to Iraq’s previous request for air support in May 2014 has led to the current threatening situation. The 5,000 American contractors and embassy staff are in danger of attacks by the al-Qaida Islamists.
The injection of Iranian troops in the battles further exacerbates the conflict, and could allow Iran to gain a foothold in Iraq.
Obama’s pivot away from the Middle East has emboldened radical Islamic terrorists in Pakistan, Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya and now Iraq.
They know he is all talk and is ready to hand out lots of carrots and punish enemies with a wet noodle.
The only thing that is worse than a government that does not listen or perform up to standards, is a population that really doesn’t care.
Granted, most of us constantly lament the self serving actions of that gaggle of bureaucrats that we have selected to guide our destiny, but in reality, we are usually quite content to just take a back seat, make believe that we are truly involved, and of course, play the role of a brain-dead fool as concerns those who are tasked with run the show.
But not to worry as mankind has several built-in defense mechanisms to cover himself in any given situation, among which are denial, self-inflicted blindness, and of course, the ever available lie.
And last, but certainly not least, is the fact that you can’t teach an old dog new trick, nor can you re-educate mankind into not constantly repeating the same old mistakes over and over again, especially when it comes to political blunders. But then, whatever would these pompous bureaucrats ever do to keep themselves in steak and champagne, if it wasn’t for politics?
After all, the world already has enough pimps, grave-robbers, and fools.
