Kaldor, Champagne M&O second team
NIAGARA, Wis. – Niagara High School’s varsity baseball team, despite claiming a regional championship in just its second season, was shut out from the first team on the M&O All-Conference selections.
Hunter Kaldor and Chase Champagne landed on second team. Kaldor made the team as a pitcher, while Champagne was picked as an outfielder.
Ethan Blagec was one of eight conference players listed as honorable mention choices.
Wausaukee, which ended Niagara’s season in a sectional semifinal, had a league-leading four of the 11 players listed on the first team, including unanimous Player of the Year Beau DeLaet.
… In softball voting, Niagara junior infielder Courtnee Marquardt was named to the All-M&O Conference second team.
League coaches also tabbed Badgers sophomore Casey Spigarelli to the honorable mention list.
Peshtigo senior pitcher Mazie Reif earned M&O Player of the Year. She was named to the first team with pitcher Lauren Edlbeck and infielder Crysta Clark, Wausaukee; catcher Dani Zahn, infielder Carlee Mylener and outfielders Jaden Russell and Kelly Staudenmeir, Peshtigo; infielder Mackenzie Kostreva and utility Asphin Ruiz, Coleman, and outfielder Cassey Germait, Crivitz.
Infielders Kaylor DeLaet and Morgan Zeutzius and outfielder Veronica Shaw of Wausaukee made the second team. Rangers’ Bethany Gabriel was an honorable mention pick.
