Mogan, Sanders hold on

IRON MOUNTAIN – Marc Mogan and Scott Sanders, fueled by an opening-round five-under par 67, captured their first U.P. Best Ball title by one shot Sunday at Pine Grove Country Club.

U.P. Best Ball partners for the past “four or five years,” Mogan-Sanders followed up Saturday’s 67 with a 71 on Sunday for a 138 total. They tallied five birdies Saturday and added three more Sunday but closed with a double-bogey on No. 18.

Runner-up Tom LaVigne-Chad Tirschel posted a 139 (69-70), followed by Jim Markell-Dan Anderson, 140 (69-71), and Randy Ellis-Jon Ellis, 141 (71-70).
