Child hurt in ATV crash OK

IRON RIVER – An 8-year-old child injured in an all-terrain vehicle accident in Iron River Saturday has been released from the hospital and is in good condition, said Iron River Police Chief Laura Frizzo.

The accident occurred on ORV Trail 2 near Stambaugh Avenue at 1:10 p.m. The 24-year-old operator lost control of the ATV and it rolled, pinning the 8-year-old passenger underneath it, Chief Frizzo said.

Emergency medical service personnel transported the child to NorthStar Hospital in Iron River.

Names have not been released at this time.

The Iron River Police Department was assisted at the scene of the accident by the Iron County Sheriff’s Department, Department of Natural Resources conservation officers, and the Michigan State Police.
