Suspect in IM chase in court

IRON MOUNTAIN – The suspect who is accused of leading police on a chase down East B Street was officially charged Friday in Dickinson County District Court.

Officials from the Dickinson County Prosecutor’s Office said that 27-year-old Brandon Rose of Iron Mountain faces one felony count of fleeing a police officer-third degree, one misdemeanor count of operating with a high blood alcohol content, and one misdemeanor count of operating while license suspended.

If convicted on the felony, he could spend up to five years in prison.

Rose is scheduled for a preliminary examination on the charges on June 18.

The charges stem from a Thursday incident in Iron Mountain.

Officers from the Iron Mountain Police Department responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of East B Street and Park Avenue. They were subsequently told by dispatchers that a suspect vehicle had left the scene.

When officers located the suspect vehicle on the 800 block of East B Street, they attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

Officers said that the suspect vehicle fled the scene and proceeded to travel the wrong way down the one-way section of East B Street. The pursuit continued to Washington Street, where the suspect vehicle lost control while attempting to turn.

The suspect vehicle left the roadway and struck a power pole guide wire. The driver, identified as Rose, was then taken into custody.

Acting Iron Mountain Police Chief Ed Mattson said that one person was injured in the initial disturbance. Officers were investigating the alleged assault for possible charges, he added.
