MADISON – Sigrid Aurora Grimmer, 95, of Madison, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, at Rest Haven Nursing Home in Verona, Wis.
Sigrid was born in Carney, Mich. on Aug. 29, 1918, to Elvira and Emil Gustafson. She grew up on the farms and logging camps in the Fence and Armstrong Creek communities of northern Wisconsin.
She married Howard Grimmer on Jan. 27, 1944. Sigrid and Howard lived in the Milwaukee area until 1968, when they moved back to Fence, Wis. When Howard passed away in 1995, Sigrid moved to Madison.
Sigrid is survived by her five children; Linda (Tim) of Milwaukee, Michael of Milwaukee, Gary (Jane) of Iron Mountain, Linnea (Phillip) of Middleton, Wis. and Clarence (Linda) of Kaukauna, Wis.; as well as nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 8, at 11:45 a.m. at the Fence Cemetery in Fence, Wis., with Rev. Tim Smith officiating.
A luncheon at the Fence Town Hall will follow the service.
