Councils, Florence School Board meeting this week

The Kingsford City Council will meet today at 6:30 p.m. in the council room, located upstairs of the city hall building, 305 S. Carpenter Ave. in Kingsford.
New business on the agenda includes a proposed Eagle Scout project from Michael Anderson of Boy Scout Troop 510, resolution for delinquent water and sewer bills, and variance request from 510 Mayfair St. for a fence.
There are also two hearings that will be held at the meeting – the first being the 2014-15 annual budget hearing – and a second for a variance request for setback requirement at 440 Grant St.
The Iron Mountain City Council will meet today at 6:30 p.m. in the council room of the city hall building, 501 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain.
Two special presentations will be made for resolutions for retirements for Police Chief Pete Flaminio and Det. Lt. Eric Haber.
New business on the agenda include approval of a sidewalk closure for the Friends of the Braumart, donation for the July 4th fireworks show, and dues for the Northern Michigan Public Service Academy.
A closed session is also planned to discuss collective bargaining strategy.
The Norway City Council will meet at 7 p.m. today in the Curtis J. Brackett Memorial Council Chambers of the city hall building, 915 Main St. in Norway.
The Florence County School District Board of Education will meet today at 5 p.m. in Room 215 of the high school.
New business includes a teacher resignation, shared service agreement for library media services, establish date for referendum committee, review policy for bidding requirements and authorization ot spend from 2014-15 budget.
A closed session is also planned to discuss 2014-15 teacher contracts, district assessment coordinator and administrative contract; personnel concern the food service director; facility use for Hillcrest School, student transportation and specific student matters.
