Rainbow Run set Wednesday at West Iron County Schools
IRON RIVER – West Iron County Schools has made a passionate commitment to raising a healthier generation with a 5K “Rainbow Run” to be held June 4, beginning at 9 a.m.
This year, students are encouraged to seek out pledges for their participation in the 5K – all proceeds will be donated to the Iron County Cancer Unit, which provides essential support to individuals and families battling the disease.
“Inspiring students to have a giving heart is as equally important as advocating students to have a healthy heart,” said Denise Maloney, school health and wellness coordinator
Now in its third year, the 5K run would not be possible without the corporate sponsors that provide financial support, as well as community and students volunteers, the Iron River Police Department, Iron County Sheriff’s Department, and many others that come together to support this event.
“While the number one goal of schools today is academics, WIC has also worked hard to instill in its students healthy lifestyle habits that will carry them over a lifetime, long after they have left the classrooms,” said Maloney
