SPALDING – Donna M. Farley, 78, of Spalding, passed away on Sunday May 25, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital with her family by her side.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1935, in Markesan, Wis., the daughter of the late Alvin and Nina (Mathes) Kearley Sr.
Donna graduated from Waupon High School in 1954, and then moved to Milwaukee, where she worked as a nurse’s aide in a large community hospital. In 1957, she met James Farley Sr. and they were married shortly after.
In 1970, Donna and her family moved to the Upper Peninsula. She worked at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility as a nurse’s aide until her retirement in 2001.
Donna enjoyed gardening, knitting and crocheting. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society and she was also very patriotic and thought very highly of those who served for our country.
She is survived by her four children, Maureen (Tom Chmitt) Randall, Jay (Lisa) Farley, James (Hope) Farley Jr. and Jamie (Kimberly) Farley; one brother: Alvin (Mary Jo) Kearley; one sister: Judith O’Keefe; five grandchildren: Kenlyn, Jayson, Madison, Ella and Jenny; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother-in-law: Thomas O’Keefe.
Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Central time) on Wednesday May 28, at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Spalding.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Donna Farley will be at 12:30 p.m. (Central time) on Wednesday at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Bergquist officiating.
Burial will follow services in the Spalding Township Cemetery.
