Services at Veterans Monument

IRON MOUNTAIN – The home of the Floriano-Stecker American Legion Post 340 of Hermansville is busy preparing for the Memorial Day activities to be held Monday, May 26.

At 8 a.m. the Legionnaires, Ladies Auxiliary, Vietnam Veterans Association, veterans, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts will meet at the clubrooms and the Ladies Auxiliary will serve a continental breakfast.

The Meyer Township Cemetery in Hermansville program starts at 11:15 a.m. and the Ladies Auxiliary will serve lunch at the hall following the program.

Mr. and Mrs. Richard Lungerhausen donated the former IXL Hotel and land to the Post in 1980. The building was renovated and the first meeting was held on Sept. 24, 1981.

“In 2012, the Ladies Auxiliary did a beautiful job of landscaping around the premises. It looks very nice,” said a Legion spokesperson. “Beautiful comments have been received.”
