Jerilyn A. Merhalski
FLORENCE, Wis. – Jerilyn A. Merhalski, 72, of Florence, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Golden Living Center, Florence.
She was born Nov. 18, 1941, in Iron Mountain, daughter of the late Lloyd and Vivian (LeFebvre) Sundberg. Jeri graduated from Florence High School, class of 1958. She married Anthony Merhalski on July 16, 1960, in Florence; he preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 1995. Jeri was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Florence. She enjoyed horses and often rode a sulky horse wagon down the streets of town with kids that were waiting for rides. Jeri coordinated one of Florence County’s first 4-H memberships and initiated the start of the horse dog shows. She loved spending time with her friends, family and especially her grandchildren.
Jeri worked for several years at Grede Foundry, Kingsford, and then Lakeshore, Inc., as a clerk and later for the Florence Landfill as an attendant.
She is survived by her two sons, Anthony (Vicki) Merhalski, Florence, and Michael (Chevonne) Merhalski, Florence; two daughters, Jodi (Brenda) Herman, Florence and Dawn Merhalski, Florence; one sister, Meribeth Stream, Panama City, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jacilyn Herman, Austin Herman and Tessa Merhalski.
In addition to her parents and husband, Anthony, she was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Kruse; her mother-in-law, Viola Soderberg Merhalski; and one nephew, Scott Kruse.
In accordance with Jeri’s wishes a private celebration of her life will be held.
Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Commonwealth, Wis.
