NORWAY – Ellen L. Gendron, 74, of Norway, went home to her Lord, Friday, April 4, 2014, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain.
She was born on Nov. 20, 1939, in Cleveland, the daughter of the late Donald and Harriet (Cuthberg) Asbeck.
Ellen graduated from High School in 1957 in Florida.
She married Patrick Gendron, the love of her life, on June 13, 1959, at Grace United Methodist Church in Vulcan.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and was very proud of her grandchildren.
Ellen was an ordained minister and pastor at the home church Fountains of the Living Water on Curry Road. She touched many lives with her love, compassion and giving.
She will be missed by her many friends and family. She loved antiques, her flower garden and all animals, especially Taz and Rascal, her two dogs. Ellen owned and operated New Beginnings Clothing Store in Iron Mountain for several years. She also volunteered for several years for Habitat for Humanity.
Ellen is survived by her loving family, husband Pat of 54 years; son, David (Angie) Gendron of Iron Mountain; daughter, Kathleen (Barry) Winston of Cary, N.C.; grandchildren, Jolie and Kalyn Winston, Mariah, Chase and Gabriel Gendron; brothers, Frank (Mary) Asbeck of Texas and Donald (Cynthia) Asbeck of Alabama; seven brothers-in-law; eight sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers-in-law.
Family will greet friends on Saturday, May 10, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Norway. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at the church, with Rev. Irene White officiating.
