MENASHA, Wis. – Clarice Jean Rouse, 89, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, with her family by her side.
She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church and a 15-year cancer survivor.
Clarice was born Aug. 17, 1924, in Channing, to the late Carl and Flossie Sitka.
She was a 1942 graduate of Channing High School and a graduate of Dundon’s Business College in Iron Mountain.
On April 20, 1946, Clarice married the love of her life and her school sweetheart, Donald Rouse. The couple recently celebrated 68 years of marriage. They were blessed with three children, Jean, Jeri Lynn and Larry.
Clarice’s employment included a stint as comptometer operator for Rhea Clothing Manufacturers in Milwaukee until 1946. Her primary occupation and passion was being a full-time homemaker and mother, except for a few years as an accountant for Stock Lumber, JC Penney, and as a relief clerk for the Milwaukee Road.
Clarice and Don enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and taking cruises. She enjoyed yard sales, refinishing furniture, and canning fruits and vegetables from the garden. As a member of the YMCA, Clarice really enjoyed her land and water exercise classes.
Clarice is preceded in death by daughter, Jean Bins in 1979; granddaughter, Jennifer Bins; sister, Margaret Wolf; and brother, Alvin Sitka.
Survivors include her husband, Don Rouse; daughter, Jeri Lynn (Steve) Pack of Menasha; and son, Larry (Brenda) Rouse of Arkansas. Eight grandchildren: Jerod Bins of Menasha; Meredith Rouse (Rick) of Neenah, Wis.; Michael Rouse of Plover, Wis.; John and Nicole Pack of Menasha; Adam Rouse (Jessi) of Plover; Lindsay and Jordan Rouse of Plover. Great-grandchildren: Brianna and MaKenna Bushman; Jackson Statezny; Dylan McLellan; Anabel, Embrie, and Evan Rouse. Sister-in-law, Emma (Roy) Johnson; brother-in-law, Wallace Kempen; and a special aunt, Glenny Ertel; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Clarice was greatly loved and will be missed dearly.
The family will receive visitation at Martens-Laemmrich Funeral Home (312 Milwaukee St., Menasha, WI 54952) from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m.
