Leona Mae Leonard
CRYSTAL FALLS – Leona “Lee” Mae Leonard, 87, of Crystal Falls, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014, at the Iron County Medical Care Facility, Crystal Falls.
She was born May 10, 1926, in Kingsford, daughter of the late Walter and Ellen (Peelman) Martwick. Lee grew up in Tomahawk, Wis., and graduated from Tomahawk High School, class of 1944. She married Charles Joseph Leonard on May 28, 1949, in Tomahawk. They resided in Tomahawk for a short period of time before moving to Chicago. In 1954 they moved to Crystal Falls.
Lee and Charles owned and operated Crystal Auto Supply from 1962 until they retired in 1984. She was an active member of Faith Baptist Church since the early 1950s. Most recently she attended Faith Fellowship Community Church in Crystal Falls. Lee was a member of the Crystal Homemakers Extension Club. She enjoyed golfing in her younger years, bowling, decorating, gardening, flowers, and especially spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by two sons, Tim Leonard, Crystal Falls and Mick (Debbi) Leonard, Crystal Falls; one daughter, Susan (Randy) Watts, Green Bay, Wis.; one brother, Marty Martwick, Crystal Falls; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Lee was preceded in death by one brother, Roger Martwick; and one sister, Muriel Kuehling.
Visitation will be on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Faith Fellowship Community Church in Crystal Falls. A celebration of life service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Rev. Cheryle Spicer will officiate.
Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Crystal Falls.
