Rangers, Edlbeck master Badgers
WAUSAUKEE, Wis. – Laura Edlbeck, a unanimous All-M&O Conference pitcher last season, tossed a three-hitter as Wausaukee dispatched Niagara 15-1 in high school softball Friday.
“I haven’t seen an array of pitches like that since Carl Lemin,” said Niagara coach Duane Blagec, referring to a former softball great. “She was dominant.”
Edlbeck walked just one batter and helped her cause with two doubles.
Niagara’s run came in the fifth inning when Cailyn Branback tripled home Brook Ermi. The Badgers also collected a double from Casey Spigarelli and a single from Emilee Pellegrini.
Niagara pitchers Marah Harvath and Ermi allowed 10 hits, walked eight and fanned five.
The Badgers (1-1) host Pembine-Goodman in non-league play Monday.
