Lorraine E. Paulsen

ISHPEMING – Lorraine E. Paulsen, 85, longtime Iron River resident, passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2014, at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility in Ishpeming where she had resided for the past 16 months.

Lorraine was born Nov 22, 1928, in Amasa, the daughter of the late Nestor and Lillian (Lahti) Hill. She was raised in Mansfield Township and was a graduate of Crystal Falls High School, class of 1946. She lived in the Crystal Falls and Iron River areas for most of her adult life. Lorraine was a homemaker who enjoyed raising her children, along with doing domestic housework for area families.

Lorraine was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Iron River, where she was active with the ladies of the church. She also volunteered at the Iron River senior center and worked in the community garden.

Survivors include six children, Dennis (Pat) Turner of Iron River, Linda (Bob) Hamilton and Deborah (Harry) Weinkel, both of Ishpeming, Lori Hytinen of Iron Mountain, Randy Paulsen and Dale Paulsen, both of Iron River; two sisters, Esther “Perpi” (Don) Hooper of Iron River and Sue Westberg of Jacksonville, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Randolph Turner and Warren Paulsen; and a sister, Lillian Johnson.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, W. US 2, Iron River, with the Rev. D.J. Thomsen to officiate. A luncheon will follow in the church fellowship hall.
