KINGSFORD – Madalyne Johanna Haug, 98, of Kingsford, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Haug was born on March 3, 1915, in Norway to the late Fred and Rose (Van Immerseel) Pancheri. She graduated from Norway High School and a school of comptometry in Chicago. She worked as an assistant register of deeds in Iron Mountain and at General Controls for a short time.
Madalyne was the oldest member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, where she was very active. She was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Sewing Circle. She led the Bible study for 40 years and started the Friendship Circle. She also volunteered at Americana Healthcare Center and she enjoyed reading, ceramics, and travel.
Madalyne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She leaves three daughters, Sharon (Ron) Johnson of Flushing, Ann (Dennis) Stacey of Durham, N.C., and Phyllis Harding of White Bear Township, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Michael Johnson, David Johnson, Derek Johnson, Brian Johnson, Scott Stacey, Eric Stacey, Steve Harding and Deb Flaherty. She also leaves 18 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Strohl and Delores Haug; and close family friends, Sherry Cerasoli and Diane Erickson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; parents, Rose and Fred Pancheri; and a sister, Charlotte Erspamer.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 26, at 11 a.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church. Rev. Lee Liverance and Rev. Lori Liverance will co-officiate. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Burial will be in the Norway Township Cemetery.
